General Information 2025
Term 1/2025 begins February 11, 2025, ends April 11, 2025
No art classes are held on public holiday weekends, including Waitangi Weekend, Easter Weekend, Anzac Day, Kings Birthday weekend, Matariki, Labour Weekend, and Canterbury Anniversary.
Art Classes are provided during school terms.
Pupils attending my practice, choose the subject, style and materials, and receive certificates of learning achievements, and trophies are on offer, to keep, for 4 sections of artwork. Creative photography also available. Creative thinking sessions held at end of each term. These provide an extension to general learning, and opportunities, to have updates on current international trends. Discounts are available, check at time of enrollment. If you wish to enrol, please contact June ASP with day of choice, to avoid being placed on a waiting list.
Individual work projects are planned during the term. Additional learning opportunities are provided each year in the form of a unique, “2025 Special Certificate” of learning, on unique topics, which may include: art history, different materials, and techniques. All other pupils receive a, “General Certificate”, of attendance and learning. At the end of Term 4 each year, along with the two certificates on offer, pupils also have the opportunity to contribute artworks, for 4 trophies on offer, ie: “Best drawing”, “Best Painting”, Best “Special Certificate topic” and, “Artist of the year”. (Trophies are to keep). Subject to criteria and entry numbers set at the time.
Popular current materials with pupils are: pen, pencil, water colour, coloured pencil, 3D construction, felts, graphite powder, collage, mixed media, construction, fibre, wax, wire, card, charcoal, felt pen, photography, pen and wash, natural materials, scratch board, felt, wire, chalk pastel, oils, acrylic, inks, timber, mixed media, card/paper sculptures, to name a few.
A variety of styles, and subject, are extended in class. Popular styles at present are: Realism, cubism, symbolism, fauvism, impressionism, self-expressionism, geometric abstract, abstract expressionism, and surrealism and fantasy, pop art, architectural rendering, animation, cartoon, constructivism, surrealism, designs, and doodle art, and sculpture, wall hangings and mobiles. Current subject of choice appears to be: fantasy caricatures, medieval, architectural, mermaids, foxes, owls, dragons, cartoons, still life, forest landscape themes, abstract, rainbows, African animals, sea-life, landscapes, birds, and portraits, steam punk, transport, birds, mixed media, and fashion.
Art Tuition Update: Art Tuition is available after school hours, 3.30-5pm, and Saturday mornings, 9-10.30pm & 10.30 to 12.00 noon, 11.30- 1pm, during the school term. Classes may vary due to term demands. Check at time of enrollment. Classes available include home-schooled, teenagers, tertiary Students, adults, NESL, and special needs and mental health organisations.
