Art Tuition

Her art teaching practice involves, passing on her art skills, and motivating, and inspiring others to participate in the visual arts, and includes, pupils of most age groups, abilities, and ethnic backgrounds. June’s commitment, and enthusiasm, for tutoring art, has produced a high demand for her art skills, experience and knowledge with many students attaining awards, and acknowledgements, of their art studies with her. June has an, NZQA, Adult Teaching Certificate.

Book Illustrations

June provides general illustrations including children book illustrations, book covers, cartoons and history reference books.

June offers studio and location art workshops in a broad range of subject, styles and materials, available to both private and publically advertised sessions.

Studio workshops include: drawing, painting, variety of materials, collage, colour, perspective, techniques, photography, life drawing, still life, cartoons, caricatures, portraits, research and planning, composition, adapting art work sessions around lifestyle commitments and personal weaknesses, Art history tutorials, and a wide range of specific topics. Specific requests are considered.

Location workshops are available to both private groups and publicly advertised sessions. Topics include: introduction to outdoor art, drawing, painting, sketching, environmental expression, water & reflection, location relaxation & healing creative sessions, colour, capturing changing light, colour consideration, perspective, building & Architecture, macro subject, depth of field, composition, observation techniques, city-scapes, fauna & flora to name a few.

Photography

She enjoys a wide variety of photography situations, and has received photography trophies, and awards, in a broad range of photographic sections, including; portrait, landscape, sports, abstract, colour, natural history, creative, farm, to name a few.

About June Pearson - Christchurch Artist

June was born in Christchurch, N.Z., and as a young child, had a strong interest in artwork and photography. Largely, self-taught, it was during the busy years as a mother of three sons, she accommodated her artwork around commitments to them. At this time, she exercised her creative talents, in a variety of voluntary work, for community causes, including, art tuition. Later, June enjoyed being part of the “Painters Gallery”, at the Christchurch Arts Centre, having regular solo exhibitions and then moving on to her own private studio, in the Tower block, of the Christchurch Arts Centre. During this time, June’s artwork services included; supplying original artworks, covering a broad range of subjects, styles and materials, locally, nationally and internationally.

Over the years, creative adventures have included; murals, book illustrations, original artwork and photography, decor/interior art, commissioned artworks, portraits, cartoons, advertising, working along-side architects/interior designers, artwork for fiction/non-fiction,  illustrations, architectural renderings, sports photography and “art to order”, for private clients, supporting art tuition to community groups, and special needs pupils. Also, running a variety of art; workshops/fundraisers/creative thinking programs.

Artwork

June enjoys working with mixed media, chalk pastel, oil, coloured glass, wire, acrylic, watercolour, drawing mediums, construction, fibre/fabric and photography. Some favourite subjects and styles include; local landscape, portrait, natural history, architecture, self- expressionism, realism, abstract, impressionism, surrealism, constructivism. Colours, textures, historical topic, reflective light, physical application of materials, and contrasts, are a source of inspiration.
