Term 1 Art Tuition Adults begins 10 February, 2025 ends 7 April, 2025
Fundamental art aspects including practical art techniques and methods, on a broad range of art topics, materials, subjects, and styles are provided. Materials: oils, charcoal, mixed media, wax, wire sculpture, water-colour, chalk/oil pastel, coloured pencil, graphite, portraits, pen & wash, outdoor/indoor artwork, architectural rendering, gouache, are some examples. Styles include: cubism, surrealism, pointillism, geometric/ self-expressive abstract, architecture, fauvism, constructivism, realism, assemblage, conceptual, minimalism to name a few. Topics cover a wide variety, examples are, use of art equipment, composition, choosing material surfaces and canvas size, along with general artwork considerations, that of, textures, visual expression, atmosphere, light, line, time management, support resources, working with models/posing, legal considerations, NZ Copyright law, architectural rendering, perspective, proportion, focal point, perspective, backgrounds, foregrounds, photography, portrait likeness, movement, gesture, anatomy, artificial lighting, creative photography, use of complimentary colours, motivation, and inspiration. Current international trends, stop/start animation, art history, brain gym, organisation/planning/work methods, studio hints/tips/setups. These name a few topics covered.
Changes to scheduled art classes.
Any changes in art class schedules, or appointments, will be advised via email, and it is appreciated, that, any health and safety requirements, are respected, and maintained. I have appreciated the support and encouragements, extended to me during these times. Thank you.
Proposed dates: Term 1/2025 begins February 11, ends April 7, 2025.
No art classes on public holiday weekends, Waitangi Weekend, Easter Weekend, Anzac day, Kings Birthday Weekend, Labour Weekend, and Canterbury Anniversary Weekend, Matariki holiday.
Adults – Afternoon and evening classes are currently available for adults, (as per demand) who wish to continue their art journeys, with tutor support, and encouragement, in a non-threatening environment. Adult pupils are able to enjoy creating, with other great creative thinkers, in a non-threatening environment. Pupils are free to choose their own materials, subjects, and styles. During the term, pupils are able to work on their own personal purpose and directions. Location work, creative photography techniques, and a variety of art tutorials as additional support, for personal art adventures. A book reference section, and DVD tutorial presentations, are available to extend valuable ideas, for future projects. Creative Photography workshops, and assignments are offered, to motivate, idea development. These strengthen and extend, new perspectives, subject, and materials.
Currently, there are new art materials available, from local art retail shops, to explore. Pupils are encouraged to develop ideas, try new media and strengthen art techniques.
Pupils plan project choices and identify areas that help accomplish project outcomes. Workshops, tutorials, and location work activities are also planned for group and individuals. Those permanently enrolled for year 2025 receive a certificate of learning and achievement at the end of year Art Awards. General artwork projects, that are copyright to pupils, are eligible for our annual art awards event, held end of November, where there are two trophies on offer, “Artist of the year”, and “Artwork of the year”. Pupils, and quests attending, judge “Artwork of the year”, and tutor judges “Artist of the year”. Subject to criteria requirements set at the time and entry numbers.
DVD support material and reference books, cover a broad range of art topics. These include art history, pictorial reference, technical and practical information, demonstrations, current world trends, the broader world of the arts, fashion, architecture, jewellery, fibre, construction arts, food, kinetic art, sculpture, printing, stage makeup, props, performance, to name a few, for those who wish to extend their art experiences, and new learning. Please advise what topic, subject, or medium, that would be of interest. Offers of a space, for art display exhibition, or art sales, can be discussed and considered.

June looks forward to working with pupils, during the term, and supporting personal art journeys, and adventures. Also in celebrating achievements, at the annual art awards, held end of November each year.
